ANCORA ANCORA LA NAE IN PORTO.

Accademia di Belle Arti di Carrara, Carrara, Italy, 2009

Michelangelo Consani’s project revolves around a sculpture entitled “ANCORA, ANCORA LA NAVE IN PORTO”.
The sculpture is a sort of denounce against the concessionaires of the Apuan quarries who destroy the mountain, not only to extract the marble for sculpture and for furnishings, but also for the sale of calcium carbonate which is used to do toothpastes and other different kinds of products.
The marble sculpture has been completely emptied and filled with toothpaste by the artist and it represents Consani’s ideal installation conclusion. The project, indeed, starts 6 km before the city of Carrara, at the point where the artist places a picket. This marks both the beginning of an imaginary journey and a reflection on the changes that have been taken place in the landscape over the years.
The project was censored.
